An Ode to Autumn Bouquets

When we hop across our 7 London stores, it’s always a delight to discover the individual floral works of art - all sharing that signature Moyses Stevens panache and quality. As October begins to unfurl our flower stands are beginning to take a noticeable shift with meadow-style stems being replaced by equally ethereal fruits and the colour palette ever so slightly mellowing. Many of our customers love to order a custom design - whether they’re entrusting our florists with the creative vision or providing a specific brief, it’s always a privilege to craft a special gift. Alternatively, if you’re a little short of time or feeling spontaneous just pop into one of our stores and pick out the perfect ready-made gathering.
Perhaps one of the elements we adore so much about autumn bouquets are the endless opportunities for depth and texture thanks to the endless foliages and boughs that were once filled with blossoms, now bearing fruits. The velvety brush-like texture of the amaranthus family is so much more than a filler whilst whimsical sanguisorba helps to keep a lightness owing to their slender, dancing stems.
Just as our tree-lined streets, back gardens, and parks gently transition from apple-green to shades of ochre and crimson, our flowers in our displays are seeing hot tones simmering to warmer ones and vivid brights being replaced with muted versions. It’s not all about the pumpkin-Pantone - antique pink and deep plum are some of our favourite October colour combinations.
There’s is still plenty of room for the big, blousy blooms to shine amongst the seasonal flora and fauna, we’re reveling in the last of the dahlias, hydrangeas begin to arrive with wonderfully variegated petals and we’re delighted to welcome back dinner-plate size chrysanthemums. It really is a wonderful time to be heading into your favourite florist for an autumnal treat or show-stopping gift.
