Flowers We Love: Sunflowers

The flower world moves at a pace, no sooner do we say goodbye to frothy peonies, we warmly welcome the epitome of floral sunshine. Radiant sunflowers have arrived spreading summer joy and a little nostalgia (who else reveled growing a towering stem from seed?!) Tall and impactful - these bold blooms make sensational showstoppers for dramatic displays, but did you know there’s a plethora of varieties that lend themselves to arrangements of all shapes and sizes (spoiler - they’re not all yellow!)

Our team has been making the most of the seasonal charmer - for Nobu Portman Square masses golden beauties filled their chic open spaces whilst the sunniest pop-up in collaboration with Chin Chin ice cream arrived outside Selfridges.

Traditionally famed for their perfect yellow petals and majestic stature - there are in fact a plethora of varieties that make the sunflower a versatile ingredient for florists. Take the 'Teddy Bear' specimen - these double-petal wonders make a playful addition to a contemporary display whilst the 'Little Becka' flower is a sweet, smaller alternative - ideal for summer bouquets.

If the signature egg-yolk hue isn’t the shade you’re after, there’s a spectrum of deep tones - the hypnotic ‘Claret’ is one of our favourites through to the dip-dye effect of ‘Ms Mars’, both sensational options for a boho high summer wedding.
