Made in Belgravia

Flower sellers have been around for centuries, with the first documented florist shops appearing around 180 years ago. Our own brand is one of the earliest florist shops in the world (fast approaching 150 years), and we are proud to remain a colourful and trusted fixture along some of London's most fabulous neighbourhoods. Despite many testing times, and the loss of many flower shops, there seems to be renewed interest in the world of floristry, flower shops. Ye ole Instagram and Pinterest can be held responsible for the fascination. They have played a major role, as they have helped spread the word about the wonderful services that florists have to offer. From a grab-and-go bouquet, to the design and installation of a full scale wedding, or a little token to take home at the end of a long day, florist shops have a special place in the high street, and long may remain.

In addition to providing beautiful creations for special occasions, florists also provide a unique experience to their customers as a local hub for all life's most important occasions. They are often a local community spot, a place where everyone is welcome to browse at their leisure without obligation. When you step into a florist shop, it's like entering the gates of a magical world. Everywhere you look, you're surrounded by dazzling colours, exotic textures, and divine fragrances. From soft pastels to bold hues, from velvety petals to spiny succulents, from light and airy aromas to sweet, musky scents, there's so much to explore. No matter what your taste or style, you're sure to find the perfect flower for whatever occasion.

We called in to our Belgravia store for a little Instagram moment with Moyses florist Gun. We asked her to create a bouquet that she would like to receive.

"Working in a flowers shop is like being in charge of a sweetshop. We have many different flowers to choose from. Like most florists, I struggle to pick a favourite flower, and I have different favourites depending on the time of year. I love pretty flowers and have a romantic style. For this bouquet, I gathered a mass of spray roses, wax flower and astrantia for a delicate and flowery look. The best thing about working with flowers is that you can switch the ingredients and create so many looks. This is what makes working with flowers fascinating, and why you will never be bored of working as a florist!'
