Our Chelsea in Bloom Displays 2023

23rd May 2023

Lights, camera, FLOWERS! This year’s Chelsea in Bloom has seen an explosion of film-themed floral designs takeover shops, restaurants and businesses vying for medals in this friendly floral competition. We’ve shared our really wild installations over in Belgravia now it’s time to reveal the blockbuster creations our genius Events Team brought to King’s Road, Sloane Square and the surrounding streets.

You can see this marvellous, free outdoor exhibition from 22 - 28 May - and voting for the People’s Choice Award is still open!

Calendar Girls - Wolford

The best-loved Brit-flick Calendar Girls served as inspiration for the windows of luxury body wear stalwart, Wolford. Incorporating the brand’s collections - mannequins covered their modesty with elaborate fans made out of pampas grass whilst a bed of bold sunflowers - very much a poignant emblem of the film spilled onto the streets.

King Kong - The Carlton Tower Jumeirah

Aptly ascending the first tower hotel in London, monster-hit King Kong took over the five-star Carlton Tower Jumeirah. Clad in black moss and emerging out of a jungle of plants and foliage, the iconic movie proved to be just as successful in floral form as the structure won a gold medal!

Eric Bompard - Maria Antoinette

Also taking part in the floral outdoor festival, was luxury French cashmere designer, Eric Bompard who commissioned the team to replicate the whimsical gardens featured in Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette. The lush, overgrown landscape immersed the store windows in grasses, dahlias, hydrangeas and snapdragons to name but a few.

Pinko - The Little Mermaid

Perfectly coordinating with the release of the Disney live action remake of the 1989 classic - Pinko choose to bring to life The Little Mermaid in flower form. The film’s hero purchases on a shell strewn rock - peering into the window longing to be part of the world inside. Surrounding her a seabed of texture - dried flowers such as statice, lunaria and larkspur for height.

Lloyd’s Bank

There could only be one film that Lloyd’s paid homage to - Black Beauty. Our team replicated the handsome horse that features on both the big screen and forms a part of the bank’s heritage. The incredible structure is seen trotting through a beautiful flower meadow filled with daisies, lupins and foxgloves.

Moyses Steves - Little Shop of Horrors

With a store in Sloane Square, we of course join in on the fun too - and we couldn’t resist paying homage to a flower shop from the silver screen, Little Shop of Horrors. Keen to keep materials and waste to a minimum our imaginative team cleverly fashioned the film’s carnivorous plant Audrey II from recycled plant pots and chicken wire then covering in a variety of leaves.
