Lisianthus care
Lisianthus is the unsung hero of the bouquet. Multi-petalled like a small rose, holds well in any vase, asks for almost nothing. If you are nervous about cut flowers, lisianthus is the one that will reward you.

How to care for them
Strip lower foliage. Re-cut at a sharp angle. Lisianthus stands well in any clean vase, deep or shallow. Cool water, no additives needed. They are not fussy.
Refresh the water every two or three days. Pinch off finished blooms at the base of each cluster — it encourages the neighbouring buds to open. Keep cool, out of direct sun.
Lisianthus is very forgiving. If a stem droops, re-cut and refresh the water — it almost always recovers. They tolerate being moved between rooms more than most cut flowers.
Common questions
A very long display — among the longest-lasting cut flowers we send. Cool clean water, regular refreshes, and a cool spot are all they need. Every order is covered by our Stem freshness promise.
No — lisianthus is in a different family entirely (Gentianaceae) but the layered, multi-petalled bloom is often mistaken for a small rose. It is sometimes called Texas bluebell or prairie gentian. The bloom shape and softness are why it works so well with roses in mixed bouquets.
Lisianthus arrives with a mix of open flowers and tight buds along each stem. The buds open in sequence over the next week as the older blooms finish. Pinching spent flowers off the base encourages the neighbours to open faster.
Lisianthus is not listed as toxic to cats or dogs by the major veterinary databases. As with any cut flower, do not encourage pets to eat them, but a cat that brushes past or sniffs is fine.
Very little. Lisianthus is a visual flower; pair it with sweet pea, freesia, or stock if you want scent in the bouquet.
Wide range — white, cream, pale pink, deep pink, lavender, purple, and bicolour varieties. The white and pale-pink are the most popular for luxury arrangements; the deeper purples have a moody, romantic quality.
