29th Jun 2023
Moyses Stevens Flower School is thrilled to have recently welcomed a private class of students from our friends at Joseph Flower School in Seoul for a specially curates four-day workshop, filled with immersive floral experiences and hands-on learning. This exclusive program took participants on a floral journey, beginning with the art of crafting a captivating summer hand-tied bouquet, progressing to the intricate world of event floristry, and culminating in an ambitious group project: a stunning floral Mandap structure. With a selection of seasonal gems such as peonies, eremurus, and roses, this workshop was a celebration of summer and floral design.
All of our classes and workshops are led by a knowledgeable team of tutors, who each have a wealth of floristry experience. Each project kicks off with a demonstration, then it’s your chance to try your hand at floristry - our teacher’s will be there every step of the way to guide and answer any questions you may have.
Day 1: Embracing Summer's Beauty with Hand-Tied Bouquets
The workshop commenced with an exploration of the summer season's vibrant blooms. We always start a class with key floristry foundations - flower care and conditioning. Participants learned the art of creating two different types of hand-tied bouquets, combining an array of seasonal flowers to capture the essence of summer.
Day 2 & 3: Unlocking the Secrets of Event Floristry
Day was all about an introduction to the world of event floristry. Table displays took centre-stage as students learned about colour harmonies, composition, and creating a cohesive design. Using their newfound knowledge and the exquisite blooms provided, the participants brought their vision to life by curating a magical tablescape.
On the third day, learning stepped up a gear with an urn project. This is a must-have skill for any florist - the design is supremely popular for any type of event from awards ceremonies to weddings. Our tutors selected a fabulous combination of tall and blousy stems including flame-toned eremurus and everyone’s favourite Coral Charm peonies - students will discover also learn about the importance of flower choice and how it differs from design to design.
Day 4: Collaborative Brilliance - Crafting the Floral Mandap Structure
The grand finale of the workshop was an ambitious group project: the creation of a breathtaking floral Mandap structure. Combining their individual talent and guided by expert instructors, the participants embarked on their biggest design yet! They meticulously selected and arranged an array of seasonal gems in tones of romantic red, to construct a mesmerizing Mandap. This ambitious undertaking was a chance for students to not only work as a team but utilise the huge range of skills they’d matser through-out the 4-day course
